Dallas W. Morgan CJF, Dip.WCF an Australian native has lived and shod horses in the United States for the past 17 years.
Shortly after arriving in the US, Dallas completed a Horseshoeing Instructors Certificate and settled in Kansas where he was the attending Farrier at Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine for 6 years. He then moved to southern California where he shod primarily dressage horses and a few jumpers for 7 years. In 2001 he and his wife, Jessica Morgan, DVM opened a Veterinary and Farrier Hospital in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. Dallas sees performance horses of all disciplines and attends to the therapeutic cases in the hospital. Each winter, the hospital hosts a series of small group hands on Farrier clinics.
Having shod horses in six countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, England, India and the United States, he continues to travel as a competitor, clinician and judge of Farriery. Yearly Highlights
1997: Competed successfully in the United Kingdom Circuit, earning the award of English National Champion Striker
2000: Traveled extensively, both domestically and abroad, as a member of the American Farriers Team
2002: Winner of the Calgary Mail In Shoe Competition
2004: AFA Convention forging demonstration on the Calgary Mail In Shoe
2005: Nominated for AFA Clinician of the Year
2007: Keynote speaker for the Western Canadian Farriers Association Annual Convention in October. He gave a 3 session in-depth review of equine distal limb pathology that included anatomy, diagnostics, horseshoeing and forging techniques. In November, as a new member of the World Champion Blacksmith Association, he competed at his first event in Massachusetts with respectable class placing of winning the specimen shoe and placing 2nd in the live shoeing, and 2nd in the Forging II Open Division.
2008: Journeyed to India to consult in horseshoeing and forging. Currently, he is preparing for the World Championships in Canada at the Calgary Stampede and has signed on with Mustad as a clinician.
